MIDI Files

Practice at home with MIDI files! Individual voice parts are referenced by letter (e.g. T = tenor), and playing the tutti file will give you a sense of the entire piece, sometimes at a faster performance speed. Midi files prepared by Samuel Huang and Allan Olley based on the midi files at Choral Public Domain Library. See also midi files at Cyberbass.

To play: left-click on any file to open in your default media player (e.g. Windows Media Player).

To download: right-click on any file, select "Save Target/Link As..." and choose your destination folder. For Macintosh users hold down control key and click on the file then select "Save Target" etc..

To control tempo: using Windows Media Player, (v. 10 works, not sure about other versions) click on
View -> Enhancements -> Play Speed Settings
and a window appears at the bottom of your screen with a scroll bar to slow down or speed up the tempo.

Fauré's Requiem: Practice files for Fauré's requiem may be obtained from the Vivaldi Chamber Choir website, in the Spring 2008 files, not including the Pie Jesu solo. Note that these files are not set to the Rutter version of the score and so there are several small differences between the midi and that score. The differences between the score as published by FitzSimons (the only edition other than the Rutter you are likely to possess) and the Rutter edited editions are detailed in this pdf file, that file also gives most of the differences between the midi files and the Rutter score, there may be a few other variances. A modified version of the Vivaldi choir files will be made available on this site shortly.
